Power went out at 8:30AM. Now I know why.

Life in Texas

This occurred pretty close by to me, like a mile or so.  I didn't hear or see anything.  No damage, and everyone and everything is fine.

But the power died at 8:30 AM without an obvious weather reason.

What cracks me up in a dark humor sort of a way..is the hedgey-iffy-kinda-sorta reporting.  "May have struck a gas line.."  geee, ya think?  Dumbass journalists  make all sorts of hard speculation on politics and call it fact without justification, but when it comes to the obvious facts with obviosu justification, they can't state it?  Also dumbass construction workers, they are supposed to locate all power and utilites before digging- very dumb (or very cheap and very illegal.)  I see OSHA fines.

Also, there is a GAS pipe in the area?  Wait a minute, I can't get gas to -my- home, but there is an effing gas pipeline running near by.  Bullshit.  I want gas!  The pipe has had to been there since my house was built.  I do not understand why these houses dont have gas with a pipe nearby like that.

Yeah, I know that. Keystone was oil, it is so dumb the US pissed those jobs and resources away. So unless I had my own refinery, raw crude wouldn't help me much. That pipline would not be running through McKinney, it would have been targeting towards the refineries in LA.

But natural gas, oh yeah, they could tap that, just like the water main. =)

What huffington isnt telling you is the tax structure on gas and why it is more lucrative to sell deisel overseas, this is all very well known. Why are they prinint this now? But the pipeline and refienery workers would disagree, the jobs are not overseas, they are here, and they are W2 jobs that pay taxes. ((Opinion: the benefactors of the jobs are republican controlled states (TX and LA). Do you think that matters? But the failed "govt investment" in failed green energy were in democart controlled states and are somewhat crony capitalsim, something one expects from a republican not the admin of hope and change. )) But bottom line, it's the govt that primarily profits from increasing gas prices, if they didn't have over 40% of the cost of gas as tax, it may be more lucrative. Sadly, Huffington isn't printing the -whole- story. If the govt wanted to help boost the economy they could reduce the costo f energy for everyone by cutting taxes to consumers to drop the price.

Those workers appear to be of about the same level of competence as the ones that worked on the gas line at the end of our road. It's been leaking for two years and they've only just started to do something about it. Not like it's dangerous to have a leaky gas pipe or anything... *headdesk*

These guys are supposed to be trained in proper digging and trenching procedures. What I suspect here is a subcontractor who subcontracted people...who had no training at all. That's as diplomatic as I am going to put it.

But our so called journalist is not naming who the workers are and who they worked for. I find that very fishy.

Ah, the familiar scent of gone off haddock...

Glad you're alright hon!

Weather is turning shitty here, winds are picking up :(

Yep, you gonna get blasted. Best to take care of things and prepare. Hugs.

I didn't even know about the gas thing until I saw it on internet news.

Eric boarded up, just in case. We shouldn't get anything more than 40 to 50 mph winds, it's just the tornadoes that I'm worried about. Eric is still at work, they didn't even shut the refinery down for this one.

There's gas available - but just not available to you. *head desk*

They would have called it hard fact if they could have somehow blamed it on Bush.
29th-Aug-2012 04:34 pm (UTC)
It's entirely possible that local resident Bush was operating that steam shovel, burned from busting that pipe. But I suspect the media doesnt want to call attention to the workers on that crew. Because, then ICE would have to be brought in, and enforcing immigration law would inconvience the Feds and the idiots in Austin.

We invest millions of tax dollars in traffic cameras, because they are efficent for enforcement, yet we can't do this to support the nation's borders (North and South).

It's all about money, and not law enforcement.

1- how do I get that gas to my house? LOL

Yes I hear you. Fun things like pole climbing, and manhole diving. urg.

Don't those idiots know to do prelocation before they dig? It's not like the pipe has moved.
