Old computer is updated
18th-Aug-2012 12:26 pm
Lurking for awhile.

But I just invested 80 bucks to double my ram from 2 gig to 4 gig in the old Dell 830.

So I am bashing it on speed and mutliple processes.

I hape this removes some of the sluggishemens and crap repsonse from this old laptop.

This is the last update for this machine.

Work is a bear.  The simple project is trying to become complex.  Complex project is getting more complex because they are trying to run twpo types of project management on it.  That seldom works.  They eed to make one style subordinate to the other.  It is a problem for the project managers to figure it out, but I doubt they will.

I ordered new theatrical contact lenses.  One thing done.

I am feeling well, and need to get on with chores.

Good investment if it gives you several more years on the D380.

I think work has been a bear for a lot of folks for the last couple of years. Sometimes trying to do more with less is the stupid choice for saving money. Mistakes increase, messages get lost, efficiency goes down the tubes. And those of us having to make it work get very tired.

What kind of theatrical contacts did you get?

Re computers- if we could keep them at a certian software level and ensure backward compatibility this would not be an issue. Flash player and browsers and INSTRUSIVE websites like google and facebook bog our computers down. We are talking something like 50K redirects a day for me and over 100+ cookies. It's crazy. If that crap went away it would run much faster. Dont even get me started on the monthly update of flash player. Each update eats more processing and more memory.

Contacts- I needed to get a back pair for Snape, so those are black and I got some silver ones for Nick.

I love Snape in the earlier films when he wore the black contacts. Of course, I love Alan in anything... or nothing at all.

I run CCleaner just before I log off every time. And the Registry cleaner of that same program, too.

Rickman has blue eyes. He's never been w/o the contacts in the movies. There is NO SUCH THING as a blue eye-snape. ;>

These contacts are purely theatrical with not correction. Cheap theatricals with correction dont cost anymore but they only make them for the near sighted. As we age we get more farsighted, meaning things at a close distance get worse. -sighs-

I got a replace black pair for snape and some silver ones for nick.

Oh to have computer savvy!

No savvy, but I can do simple things. However, I can't hack or code. Would love to go to hacker school..

Two types of Proj. Management sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen. Meanwhile, I had 80 elementary school teachers to deal with on a tour as a group. :/ The fact that they didn't have the common decency to stay off of their cell phones or quiet down was bad enough. Then...it got real. They laid eyes on the antiques and suddenly began operating like some giant tentacle monster, all hands on the furniture, and fingering the wholes in the lace curtains. It was kind of creepy while giving that tour. o.0 **hugs of sympathy for headaches**

I just resurrected an old Panasonic laptop. Took it to the shop that had decided the motherboard was fried and asked them why is it perfect now that I've upgraded the hd and ram? Dweebs. Never trust a geek unless they wear glasses, so as they can see

Conrgats on your new-old laptop.
